The Very Most: Syntherely Yours (February Records, 2015)

“Syntherely Yours” is a digital-only album with nine of your favorite songs by The Very Most re-recorded as synth-pop songs featuring guest vocalists for each track.
The Very Most was started in Boise, Idaho, USA by Jeremy Jensen in either 2002 or 2003 (he honestly can’t remember). Since that time, the band has released three full-length albums, seven EPs, and a bunch of miscellaneous tracks. Recorded entirely in Jeremy’s backyard studio (made from a converted shed), the music exists in a pretty little spot on the Venn diagram where The Beach Boys, Camera Obscura, New Order, Teenage Fanclub, and The Wedding Present meet. It makes heavy use of male/female harmony, vocal call-and-answer, and lushly layered instruments, both conventional and not-so-conventional. It’s all pop, and it’s all melodic, but it finds a lot of different ways of being melodic pop” (Press)

Village Ten Collective: Village Green (2013)

Village Green cover art“In the spirit of full dsiclosure, this writer is one who doesn’t always appreciate the idea of covering someone else’s music. I often find covers forced, pretentious, inadequate, and completely off the mark. But after listening to this latest release from the Village Ten Collective it almost seems as if the opus would lie incomplete without the added interpretation and support of some other friends.
That is to say, these are not covers, but a conversation amongst friends. As if written in call and response form, the songs of Adam and Darcie, The Very Most, and Canoe echo symbiotically off one another as if to say, “thank you for that, let’s do it again.”
The songs are both epic and simple–ambitious in their narrative and composition, but comforting and candid in their execution. They make you at once homesick for that place you wish you could remember, but also glad that you at least have somewhere to long for and someone to long for it with. As the guitars swirl, the harmonies blend, and the words tell their story, the listener is perhaps brought to a place somewhere near Sunset Sound in 1966, and a Sierra gold mining town on a quiet day. In the words of The Very Most’s “You’re In Love With the Sun”, as sung by Adam and Darcie, “…it just feels right, it just feels right…”
I keep looking for honest music. Music without pretense. Music that uplifts. And, I keep coming back to Village Ten. If honesty is a virtue, which I believe it is, then this is some pretty virtuous rock and roll. So strike up that conversation, gather round the dinner table, get comfortable, and let these three groups of friends tell you their story. By the end, I know you will be saying, “thank you for that, let’s do it again.”

The Very Most: Patricia (Ep, 2011)

The Very Most: Alien girl (Single, 2011)

If Monday´d never come. Recomendable.
