Cool in A Crisis: Tape Netlabel

Who are we?

A tiny cassette tape label based in that big smoke they call London. Previous to this, we were involved with clubnights Baby Honey and Twee As F**k – putting on gigs and playing records on both sides of the Atlantic.

What’s with the name?

Well, the name came straight from one of the DIY signs The Pooh Sticks were sporting on stage during their performance at Indietracks 2010. Here’s a super-hip-hipstamatic shot of Peggy (of POBPAH) holding the sign.

Why cassettes?

Pressing the ‘play’ button on our walkman sends us to a land of lo-fi cozy feelings. We hope to share that adventure with you. Every release is a split EP, featuring a band on either side. There will only be 100 cassettes pressed with each release, complete with a silkscreened silver-coated sleeve and a mini-zine. Our first release features SWEATER GIRLS (Los Angeles, CA) and THE HISTORY OF APPLE PIE (London, UK). Out on Monday, November 15th, 2010:

“full of wonderful pop melodies complete with cute girls’ voices, jangling and fuzzed guitars and glockenspiel, in other words every ingredient we’ll never get tired of hearing since 1986” – No Fear Of Pop
