Bearsuit: Princess, you´re a test (Single, 2011)

Bearsuit: Train wreck (Single, 2010)

Bearsuit – Train wreck (Single, 2010)

“It’s the season of goodwill and all that, and so here’s a big thank you Christmas pressie to our mailing list peeps from all the bears. And when you’ve had your pressie, mince pie and, oh go on, a wee tipple of port, then have a gander at the video for A Train Wreck, filmed by the lovely James Sharpe:

We think it’s a pretty dapper and catchy motherlover of a song, and we hope you will too. It’s the Rosetta stone of the new album The Phantom Forest (coming Feb next year), in that it’s the starting point for all that follows.
Thanks to everyone who came along to our recent gigs for Please Don’t Take Him Back and A Train Wreck in Bristol, Cambridge, London and Norwich – we had a blast as always. We’ll be on the road again in the new year with next single When Will I Be Queen (out January) and and album tour (see new dates on right) for The Phantom Forest.

Bearsuit: Please, don´t take him back (7″, 2010), Fortuna Pop!

Bearsuit – Please, don´t take him back (Single, 2010)

“Bearsuit are a boy/girl five-piece from Norwich who have released three previous albums and were favourites of the late John Peel. Since their full-length oh:io in 2007, the Norwich boy/girl five-piece have undergone a dramatic line-up change, swapped violins, flutes and horns for dirty synths and fierce guitars, resulting in a more beefed-up, edgy sound. The band now consists of Iain Ross on guitar and keyboards, Lisa Horton on keyboards, and Jan Robertson on guitar and keyboards, with new recruits Charlene Katuwawala on bass and Joe Naylor or drums. All five sing. With their new rhythm section they went on to record The Phantom Forest with Gareth Parton – producer to the Go Team!, Foals, The Breeders, Pink Grease and Pete and the Pirates.
Known for their electric and outlandish performances, especially their many and varied onstage outfits, from blood covered zombies to majorettes, Bearsuit have supported the likes of Crystal Castles, Future of the Left, Lightspeed Champion and Hot Chip. They’ve also played various festivals including Latitude, Bestival, The Great Escape and Offset, as well as several abroad including South By South West (Austin, Texas) and CMJ in New York (where they were voted ‘Best Breakthrough Act’).
Back in the UK, Bearsuit have been championed by BBC radio DJs including Steve Lamacq, Huw Stephens, Rob Da Bank, Phill Jupitus, Marc Riley, Tom Robinson, Colin Murray, Gideon Coe and also by John Kennedy on XFM. Accolades include scooping Vinyl of the Week in NME, Pick of the Week in The Guardian, Album of the Fortnight in Artrocker, and being voted No. 2 in John Peel’s posthumous Festive 50 chart.
“A colourful pop hotchpotch” NME
“Louder than an explosion in a fireworks factory” Artrocker
“Cinematic doodlings, screamy art punk, and many twists and turns” The Independent
“Retro space age, riotously cute disco-punk. This is what my 80s sounded like” (
