Mira que es difícil ocultar tu rostro y tu imagen en estos tiempos que corren en los que las redes sociales, los medios de comunicación y la interconectividad parecen haberse adueñado de nuestras vidas. Pues parece que Temple Songs, esa agrupación fantasma de la que sólo conocemos su música, continúan lográndolo. Acaban de editar un nuevo single, este A bee or a shark, adelanto de su nuevo álbum: 15 Bygones, y continuamos sin saber absolutamente nada de ellos. Nos han enviado su nuevo material al correo ¡y nada!
En cualquier caso, su música, lo que nos interesa, continúa teniendo ese encanto Lo-Fi-Shoegazer tan particular ya reseñado en TJB, aunque ahora algo más rebajada de reverbs y distorsiones. No importa, hay lugar para la creatividad y para las buenas canciones. En cuanto que tenga alguna referencia más sobre cómo descargar el disco de su Bandcamp, lo postearé. Surgidos casi de la nada (dicen que son las cenizas de un antiguo proyecto llamado The Falling Floors), sin ningún MySpace ni nada que les identifique, en su Bandcamp, donde han colgado este Ep, tan sólo adivinamos a localizarles en París. Total, tienen todos los ingredientes que nos arrebatan de ese tipo de grupos que utilizan Bandcamp como vía promocional de su música utilizando sin temor cualquier tipo de etiqueta, arriesgándose a innovar sin miedo a las cortapisas de determinados sellos. ¡¡Bandcamp es el nuevo nirvana!! Temple Songs Ep es: ¿un pequeño disco de Dream-Pop? ¿un álbum de Shoegaze? ¿Lo-Fi? Un poco de todo esto y algo de casi nada. Un mini álbum más que sugerente para ensoñarnos con su suciedad ensoñadora. Casi mejor lo oís. A mí me tiene atrapado…

“There’s a lot going against the sensation of drinking alcohol in the morning, feeling unsteady on your feet as the spirits sits uneasily atop your cornflakes, the slow sobering up taking you just past midday. But whilst mainly the reserve of alcoholics and the suburban middle aged at Christmas, it inarguably gives a slant on the world that is pretty much unmatched, part wooziness, slightly energetic and wide eyed whilst remaining mildly upsetting. Temple Songs probably didn’t have that in mind when they were putting together their eponymous E.P., but it’s what they’ve managed to capture. Dirtier than dream pop, too frayed to be psychedelic, it’s a heady mix that draw heavily on lo-fi without ever sinking to it’s tuneless depths.
The project appears to be the overflow from now defunct band The Falling Floors, but the vibrancy and wurlitzer charm of Temple Songs forerunner hasn’t been lost, each of the six songs relying heavily on a kind of sedated melody. It’s the kind of music that makes you want to put a shot of baileys in your morning coffee, or carry a hipflask of whiskey around to keep you warm.
